Blue eyed gaze lifted as she locked the door to her dorm room, cell phone in hand as she walked outside of the main dorm hall to plop herself on a bench outside. It felt wonderful outside, even if it was early evening. The wind was refreshingly cool, and the setting sun still glowing warmly upon her skin. So with a soft sigh, she flipped her phone open to scan through the numbers stored within, finally finding the one for her best friend back home.
She'd been gone only a week, but leaving had been hard enough. Her best friend, Matt, hadn't wanted her to leave. He'd protested it fully, saying once she'd gone, she'd probably never come back the same. He had an awefully distasteful view on boarding schools. But she'd reasurred him everything would be fine, and she'd come home for Christmas.. only a few months from now. It wouldn't be that big of a deal. But as the line on the other end of her phone continued to ring, she sighed quietly again as his voicemail greeted her moments later.
Hey Matt.. it's me. Just calling to say hey, and see how things are going back home.
Tones silenced a moment before continuing.
I wish you were here Matt.. and I really hope you're still not mad at me for leaving. So please call me later when you get a chance. Bye.
As she flipped the phone shut and laid it on the bench beside her, gaze lifted to the colorful horizon, knowing silently that the chances of him calling back were slim. But things would get better in time. They'd have to. So deciding she wasn't going to let this ruin her evening, she pocketed her cell phone and rose, planning to take a walk around campus to get a better look at the place. Nothing else to do.

OOC: If you were wanting someone in particular and I'm butting in, just drop me a line and I'll delete it! I just got bored so I thought I'd post. Get to the bloody plane at three in the morning. Just as I'm boarding, dad chucks a pair of keys at me, saying my new ford would be sitting in the parking lot of the new school. Then, before I could say another word, he was off with his hooker friend. The boxes of my clothes would come later, he says. Whenever later was, I didn't care. I had a thousand bucks riding on he forgets to send them. So here I was, standing in the parking lot of my own personal hell. I'd gone to the admission off and they threw another key at me saying "Burton!" and then going back to their phone call. Tomorrow, classes would start, and along with them, football practice. The only thing had with me was a bag full of extraneous necessities, with three pairs of clothes. Yippee. I'd have to make that last till semster break when I could go home and cattle prod my dad. Joy. As I was pressing the button on the set of keys dad had chucked at me in the airport, I noticed a girl sitting on a bench staring at a cell phone. She was pretty, but just as she stood up and looked as she was about to walk off, the panic button on my car went off. I turned quickly, looking for whichever car's lights were flashing like crazy. There she was, my ford. 2005 Ford Mustang. Just like dad's new one back home, except this one was blue. At least he had the heart to do something right for once, and buy me a car for the boarding school in the middle of no where. Away from my friends, especially Parker. I forgot all about the car as my mind roamed off to think of Parker, I hope dad hadn't already shot him. I hope Parker was smart enough to get the hell away from that house, wherever he would go... I pushed the button on the keys again, and turned to start walking to the door. There was that girl again. What would it hurt to just say hello? A lot, if she knew the right people. I smiled and waved to her from the parking lot, not sure if she saw me. Well, after the car alarm, she'd probably have heard me. I'd need to find my room and put my stuff away before I could even really talk to her though. So here I was, making my entrance to the boarding school I never wanted to go to. Dad forced me into it after last night's game, he'd been trying to ship me off forever now. Now, he just had a reason because of what happened at the game.

(ooc: No, you're not butting in at all! I probably should have written "Open" somewhere on there.. didn't think about it, lol. But you're more than welcome to entertain yourself with my posting. )
Turning around to the sound of a car alarm, soft blue eyed gaze shifted first to the flashing headlights of the Ford, and then to the boy who stood near the dorm entrance, keys in hand. Shoulder length blonde hair was pulled up into a pony-tail, a bit messy as a few strands hung around her face, only to be pushed back casually moments later.
Seeing the boy offer a wave, she smiled, and then lifted a few fingers in reciprocation of his own gesture. Gaze lowered to his arms, ladden with stuff most likely to be put into his dorm room. Well, at least he'd be staying in Burton as well. So if she didn't talk to him tonight, she'd most likely end up running into him later.
So with that thought in mind, gaze drifted elsewhere, not really wanting to look like she was standing around pointlessly. Hands tucked into her jean pockets as she turned lightly on her tennis shoe heel, only to head quietly down the sidewalk, no destination in mind.

Well, I got some response to someone around here. At least that was a start, if nothing more. I barely noticed her waving back because I was staring so intently on the sidewalk, trying not to freak her out by looking at her. That was one of my weaknesses, I didn't know when to swing or when to stop, so I just stood there looking stupid. There was a rut in the sidewalk that I didn't notice because it was dark, even though my gaze was intent on the sidewalk. So yes, I tripped, stumbled, and nearly dropped everything I was carrying. You know what the first thing I did was? Look up to see if that girl hadn't seen anything. Thank the lord she was turned away from me. I gathered myself up, and started walking toward the door again. One two step. One two step. The beat of my heart was as steady as my foot steps. What was I really doing here anyway? Oh yes, putting my stuff into my room. I got to the door, and put my stuff down. Then I fumbled around in my pockets for the key, realizing it was still in my hand. Sighing, I put my key into the door, figuring it would be locked now that it was dark, and turned the lock. Just as I was about to drag my stuff inside and put it away, I saw that girl walking along the sidewalk. I felt some pull to go talk to her, not wanting to be seen as the quiet weirdo who didn't know which care was his. She'd probably think I was drunk. Leaving my stuff in the doorway so I could get in easily, I stood there a moment trying to figure out what to do. Run after her and put my hand on her shoulder, or scream hey and then run up to her? "Hey! Wait up a second!" My australian accent wasn't helping my frustration. Hopefully she'd turn around and there wouldn't be any problems. Hopefully no boyfriend would jump from the shadows and tackle me so my brains wouldn't be spilled all over the cement. So there I was, jogging over to the girl and smiling. Should I muster up the australian accent, or just leave it at I have it and talk normally? No one in my family really talked like an australian, so I didn't even know how to do it. What the hey, just talk normal. "Hey, I'm Robert. I'd say I've never seen you around, but sense I just got here that would be obvious." I smiled to her, not really sure what to do now. Maybe a handshake? That would be too othrodox. Well, what was I going to do now? I had to do something. I put out my hand to be shaken, but I wasn't so sure if she'd take it. After all, I was some random strange guy who'd just set off a car alarm. "You're the first human life form I've really seen around here, except the adults over in the office that hurled my key at me. Is it always this deserted?"

Hearing a male voice ring out across the lightly chilled air, she glanced back once more, single brow raising ever so slightly as the same boy she'd seen only moments before came running her way. Stopping in her tracks, her slender frame turned back towards him, single hand emerging from her pocket to grasp his own politely.
I'm Kathryn.
Was the easy reply. Usually, she would've offered "Kathryn Danielle", her first and middle name, since her friends back home usually varied between the two, and derived nicknames from either. But this Robert character was surely a new face, and Deballo itself was new territory. She wasn't rushing into any overly familiar callings just yet.
And yeah, I'm sure you haven't seen me around.. especially if you're new. I've only been here about a week anyhow.
He was indeed a bit.. different. But different was at times refreshing. She wasn't sure just how much so this boy was. She'd most likely find out soon enough.
Don't mind the admin office. Most of the ladies in there aren't exactly all that sociable and welcoming unless you've caught them right after a morning coffee.
She smiled in reply, shrugging mildly. Had she really allowed yet another smile to slip across her features? Ah, oh well.
Deserted? Yeah.. well I guess so. I haven't met many people around here, but I guess you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Most of the hang outs are in the middle of town, where everyone parties or goes to the games. So around the dorms this time, there's usually not much action.
